The impact of my work with Impelo

I asked Impelo’s Co-Directors about the change transformation work I am supporting them with. This is what they said:

What did you expect to achieve when we first started working together?

Suzy: When we started working with Amy we were in a state of shock, incredibly confused and personally devastated by a funding decision. Almost immediately Amy built up a relationship of trust, support, challenge and mutual respect. It was not easy to do the transformative work that was being asked of us as a result of the loss of funding, and whilst initially we felt totally hopeless and helpless, through this trust Amy showed us how strong and what a possible bright future that there might be and then helped us to map things out. Who could have known this journey would end up being so much fun and so swiftly moving to fresh perspectives, beginnings and deep change.

Jemma: Hard to say, if I'm totally honest I expected a very cold, blunt and to the point response to our IR application and a kind of 'here's my invoice and good luck' type service, so my expectations were mainly centred around accepting feedback from you and just being brave in light of your feedback. I didn't expect to be 6 months later still working with you. I guess I thought you would be another buzz word loving arts consultant. How very very very wrong was I!

If you could summarise your experience of working with me in one sentence, what would that be?

Suzy: You have taken the most devastating professional event of my career and turned that s*** into a lotus flower - for me personally and for the organisation I love…

Jemma: Life changing - personally and professionally.

What do I do well?

Suzy: Listened, challenged, so fast turned our half thoughts into plans, had our backs in difficult times, never let us get away with bringing anything but our A game. I can honestly say that you are by a Powys country mile the best consultant I have ever worked with - just keep doing what you're doing, it's amazing.

Jemma: Urm.... everything? You invite people in, value them with total honesty and support. You push when needed and support when needed, as mnetioned before, you're really intuitive to situations and relationships and I think that's what makes your clients feel like they are always getting honest Amy. No bS with you which I love.

How else would you describe your experience?

Jemma:I think as a dancer yourself you're able to really tune into people and empathise, find common ground and ways of working together - I don't how you would summarise that into a word but human and heartfelt spring to mind.

How have you brought the new skills/qualities or beliefs and/or new processes to your work? And how have your skills/efforts improved your work (faster times, less errors, funding success etc)?
Jemma: I speak up and I speak out now. I trust my work ethic more and my work processes, where I used to berate myself for not being fast and or good enough I now set boundaries to ensure I am safeguarded from this and speak out when I know I'm overwhelmed and not being pro-active and working well. I guess a massive and main thing for me is the trust I now have in myself, something I don't think I EVER had, absolute gamechanger.

What will you do next as a result of taking part in our work together?
