News: Propel partners with Inclusive Dance UK & we’re off to the USA!
Taken from the Propel Dance website, 3 mins read time.
As you may know, I am slightly closer to one particular client - Propel Dance. They are the UK’s first wheelchair dance company and I am privileged to co-lead the CIC’s work as a Co-Director. I really enjoy working alongside Helen and Rosie (fellow Co-Directors) in the development and leadership of the company in its infancy as we build something really special and well, needed for and with the disabled dance community.
And, it means I get to actually practice what I preach to the rest of my clients by putting into action all that I stand for, know, understand and advocate for in my consultancy practice!
So… the BIG NEWS (part 1)
We are thrilled to announce that we have built a new partnership with the leading charity for the development of Para Dance Sport; Inclusive Dance UK.
Inclusive Dance UK were founded in 2014 and have been advocating for and developing the competitive para dance scene here in the UK ever since. Led by Chair, dance sport specialist Ray Bulpitt, their mission is around;
“Dance possesses a magical, transcendent quality that moves us all,
without regard for language, culture, station in life or limitations.
It can add wonder to the most common event, and excitement to an ordinary evening. But most of all, it can reach those who are considered unreachable.”

What does this mean?! Well, this close affiliation means that we will work together to develop and deliver the UK’s competitive para dance scene AND:
THE BIGGER NEWS!
Two of the Propel Dance artists have been selected to compete internationally, who will work with us and represent the UK abroad. Earlier in the summer, the WMCA, in partnership with the British Council, awarded us the International Fund, specifically the West Midlands Future Growth Grant - to enable us to travel to the US Open Para Dance Championships in Dearborn, Detroit.
Rebecca and Lauren will be competing on behalf of Inclusive Dance UK, developing their competitive prowess whilst Helen, Amy & Rosie will be busy networking with teams from around the world, including the worlds best wheelchair dance choreographers!
We’ll be in America between 7th-12th August 2024 so please do keep an eye on our socials for updates! We wish Rebecca and Lauren every best wish and good luck in the competition, representing the United Kingdom!
With thanks to the West Midlands Combined Authority and British Council for this funding distributed through the Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund.
